HESLB Allocation 2026/2027 – How to Check Your Loan Status

Students who applied for higher education loans for the 2026/2027 academic year can follow their application status and loan allocation through the HESLB system. At present, HESLB indicates that the application window for 2026/2027 has closed, while the processing and release of applicant information continues according to the Board's procedures.

What Does HESLB Mean?

HESLB stands for Higher Education Students' Loans Board. In Swahili, it is known as Bodi ya Mikopo ya Wanafunzi wa Elimu ya Juu. It is the institution responsible for administering higher education loans to eligible students studying in Tanzania.

Each year, HESLB publishes guidelines explaining the eligibility requirements, criteria, and application procedures for higher education loans.

Depending on the type and amount of loan allocated, financial support may cover items such as tuition fees, meals and accommodation, books and stationery, special faculty requirements, research, and practical training.

What Does HESLB Allocation Mean?

HESLB Allocation refers to the amount of financial support that HESLB has allocated to a student after their loan application has been reviewed and processed.

When a student sees Loan Allocation in their account, the information may show different loan components and the amount allocated to each component. Not every applicant necessarily receives the same amount because loan allocation is based on the criteria outlined in the relevant year's guidelines.

What Does 100% HESLB Allocation Mean?

If a student sees information indicating a 100% allocation, they should check their HESLB account to see the actual amount and individual loan components allocated.

It is not advisable to determine the amount of money received based on the percentage alone because the allocation may be divided among different loanable items.

How to Check Your HESLB Allocation 2026/2027

Students can follow their loan information through SIPA (Student's Individual Permanent Account), which is the account used during the loan application process.

Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official HESLB website.
  2. Log in to the HESLB online application system/OLAMS.
  3. Use your SIPA login details.
  4. Look for Loan Status or the allocation information.
  5. Check whether your application has been allocated a loan.
  6. If an allocation has been issued, review the amount and individual loan components shown in your account.
  7. Continue checking your SIPA account because HESLB may release information in different phases.

Students who have already joined higher education institutions may also be required to provide relevant information to their institution's Loan Officer, including registration details and bank information, and continue following loan-related updates from HESLB.

Students Who Have Received Loans Should Continue Checking SIPA

Receiving a loan allocation does not necessarily mean that all payment-related processing has been completed immediately. HESLB may continue processing information received from higher education institutions, including admission confirmation for new students and academic results for continuing students.

Therefore, students who applied for HESLB 2026/2027 are advised to continue checking their SIPA accounts and follow official HESLB updates rather than relying solely on unofficial lists circulating online.

Important Update

As of the current date, applicants should verify their individual status directly through the official HESLB system. The application window for 2026/2027 is closed, while loan processing and allocation information may continue to be updated according to HESLB procedures..
